The Ohio Players

Do you remember them?  In case you don't, they were a Funk and R&B band
that was very popular during the 70's.

Hmm, those were the days of the big Afros.  Although they were mainly known for two hits: "Fire" and "Love Rollercoaster.,  I loved, " I Want to Be Free" and "Heaven Must Be Like This".   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQJL1e_ftUY&feature=related

The 70's was a particularly interesting time.  Black people sang about love and their relationships and yes, sex.  Their songs and music were also transcendent.  Singing was big along with the big hair (no rap here - melodies).  Very strong and beautiful voices.  How many generations was this from mother Africa.  I think full assimilation has happened in today's music - few traces of the old.

Then their was soul train.  It featured so much talent, and of course the newest dances.
Well, most of the Ohio Players are no longer with us and Don Cornelius has joined those musical ensembles into the beyond.  I am glad I lived to see them here.
